NOTICE
The following 2008 Delinquent Property Tax Bills will be offered for sale by Carter County Sheriff Kevin McDavid at the Carter County Courthouse on April 30, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.
Cash offers to purchase these bills can be submitted in writing beginning April 9, 2009 and must be received by this office by April 24, 2009. Offers to purchase can also be made in person on the date and time shown above. Offers should be mailed to Carter County Sheriff, Kevin McDavid, P.O. Box 1590, Grayson, KY 41143.
The private purchaser of a delinquent tax bill will be issued a Certificate of Delinquency which represents a lien upon the real estate described on the face of the tax bill. Interest, at the rate of 12% per annum, accrues upon this certificate from the date of issuance.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Payments made during the 10% penalty period but prior to the sheriff's delinquent tax claim sale date noted above are subject to an additional 10% sheriff's fee. In addition to the 10% penalty, payments made after the sheriff's delinquent tax claim sale are subject to a 20% county attorney's fee and 10% county clerk's fee.
